Richard joined the practice in 2008 and has been with us since the beginning. Originally from New Zealand, he graduated from Massey University in 1995 as a veterinary surgeon and has worked in zoos all over the world helping to improve animal welfare and provide excellent medical care. Ever the informal vet, he can often be seen hanging around the practice in shorts and sandals, even in winter! His motto is: ‘if you can get it through the door, I’ll treat it!’
Richard is passionate about the environment and conservation, enjoying camping and diving in his spare time, along with Brazilian JuJitsu and squash. He has also recently qualified as a Krav Maga instructor. Richard also volunteers every year at a charity in Spain helping to trap, neuter and release stray and feral cats. At home he has 4 cats and a dog, as well as lots of wildlife living in his garden!
